  • If Palin had said that and someone shot (insert name here), it still wouldn't mean that the someone actually was acting upon her words or at her behest. There's a rather large causation problem with your example and with linking what she did with the targets or crosshairs and the Tucson shooting.

  • We may never know what motivated this nut job, but what we do know is that comments like those of Alex at #179 are absolutely hateful. Politics have taken a very harsh tone in the last 10 years or so, but the vitriol from the left at least matches any alleged vitriol of the right.

  • This is a tired debate, but reading some of the comments and the article itself compels me to jump into the fray. First, as long as the death penalty is on the books so to speak it is the law.

  • That's a convenient oversimplification but ok. Yes, as far as I know they have the right to build the mosque there, just as the Supreme Court ruled the Nazis had the right to parade in a predominately-Jewish suburb of Skokie, Illinois.

  • This is absurd spin. The law hasn't even taken effect and the Obama team has engaged in a massive PR campaign which focuses on a couple of token, short term benefits when the public is still largely uninformed about the true burden and cost of the law.

  • I am a strict constructionalist when it comes to constitutional law, and I have never researched the fourteenth amendment. But, I can't believe that the intent of the amendment was to allow what is occurring here.
